Look What I Found (and some other stuff)!

Check that out!  Someone liked this comic so much that they went and translated it into Chinese.  So awesome!  If any of you feel the urge to translate a comic and post it, by all means go ahead!  All I ask is that you link back to this site as the source.

In other news, Timothy Winchester over at People I Know had a Wizard Week this past week and I drew up a thing for it!  It’s about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through that page, but you should check out all of them!  There are a lot of really fantastic drawings in there.

Now, as a treat for you reading that text, lemme give you a doodle I did =)

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

PS

I added a couple more smaller sizes for the Bruce Willis double take GIF if you’re interested!

And the award for best double take of all time goes to…

Bruce Willis!

I had to make an animated GIF of it because of how fantastic it is.  I even made some smaller ones too, just in case you find it as awesome as I do and feel like using it somewhere.

The Art of Invisible Bread – Part 2

by Justin Boyd on May 22, 2011 at 12:17 pm

Welcome back to my series of blogs about the art of Invisible Bread!  In part 1, I talked a little bit about how important art is to a comic on these here internets and posted three test comics that I drew to figure out the Invisible Bread art.

So hey, let’s check out some more of my test comics!

The Art of Invisible Bread – Part 1

by Justin Boyd on May 18, 2011 at 1:50 pm

Invisible Bread is starting to spread a little bit and that is super awesome!  Just the other day, this comic made it on to the reddit frontpage!  Super sweets!  So if you are a new reader of Invisible Bread, hey there!  Welcome to the site!

Also, just to get this out of the way super quick, I am in no way trying to copy or imitate any other webcomic =)  I’ve been writing jokes like this for a long while and the art looks this way because it’s how I’ve always drawn stuff (see Left-Handed Toons).  It just has some color to it now.  And this actually brings us right into what I wanted to talk about!

When I began thinking about starting Invisible Bread, the part that took the longest was figuring out what the art would look like.  The art is how people can quickly distinguish one webcomic from another and is very important in establishing the identity of the site.  I spent a lot of time on what the art would look like and drew up many test comics to see how it felt.  If you were wondering after reading that sentence if I was going to share these test comics with you, no need to wonder, because I am gonna do that thing right now!

It’s Been One Month!

by Justin Boyd on May 11, 2011 at 2:22 pm

I announced Invisible Bread exactly one month ago!  Sure, the first comic was technically posted March 15th, but it was on April 11th when I told everyone about the secret I had been keeping.

It’s been a lot of fun so far doing the comics and chatting with everyone in the comments.  And I’m gonna keep doing all those things so please, keep reading and commenting!  You guys are the best =)

Here’s the first version of the logo.  I was thinking that the shape of the end of a piece of bread was very much like a B, but noticed that after you draw it out, it looks like all kinds of terrible…

I’m very glad I didn’t use that logo.
